Need help with Intro to Humanities

Overview: In Milestone Two, you will submit a structured draft. The prompts for this essay will help you begin identifying, contextualizing, and comparatively analyzing your two pieces of art. This essay is crucial to your success on the final paper because it will provide your instructor the opportunity to give you detailed, constructive feedback on your preliminary ideas. The feedback and suggestions you receive on this essay should be incorporated into your final paper. Specifically, the following elements should be included in your draft: I. Overview: a. Provide a brief overview of your topic by identifying fully the two works of art you chose (as you were required to do in your topic proposal), and provide an image of each. The IDs for each piece should include: 1) name of artist; 2) name or title of artwork; 3) style period or movement/date; 4) location or origin; 5) medium and/or size. II. Analysis of Artwork # 1: In one paragraph, answer the following: a. How does this work relate to its style movement and historical context? b. How does the piece express the visual and thematic features of its style period? c. Support your ideas with your objective observations on the work and what it reveals about the style movement and time period in which it was created. III. Analysis of Artwork # 2: In one paragraph, answer the following: a. How does this work relate to its style movement and historical context? b. How does the piece express the visual and thematic features of its style period? c. Support your ideas with your objective observations on the work and what it reveals about the style movement and time period in which it was created. IV. Compare/Contrast: In two short paragraphs, compare and contrast the artwork (one paragraph should address similarities, and one paragraph should address the differences). a. Identify the visual similarities and differences between the two works. d. Explain why they are important and how they relate to the style movements of the pieces. Remember that in your final paper, you will need to expand upon the similarities and differences you have identified here. This activity is to help you get started in that direction. Guidelines for Submission: The structured draft should follow these formatting guidelines: Use of at least two appropriate research sources for each piece of art, 2–3 pages, double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and MLA citations. Instructors may request a resubmission for partial credit if students do not meet proficient on at least 60% of the critical elements of the rubric. Please see the feedback provided by your instructor and re-submit, as needed. Rough draft submission should contain each critical element required according to the final project document; however, rough draft does not need to be a fully fleshed product, unlike the requirements for the final submission.
