  • Peer 1 (KH):

For this discussion, I am reminded of a company that I worked for back in 2000. The company was Emachine computer company. The company started out with a high expectation of bringing an affordable computer to market; that was priced well below the competition. The computers looked good and ran well for about a year, then the change happened. A new CEO started looking at cutting overhead by purchasing cheap parts from China and substituting good parts for bad. I worked in the call center that helps customers with their computer. At first, we hardly had any calls for service, but then the wheels came off the 2nd year. The new computers for the second year started failing as soon as the customers plugged them in. The call center became a hectic place to work; sometimes there would be over 80 people waiting to talk to someone about their computer and to make it worse the customer had to pay for the call after 30 days. We could have fixed this issue very simply by allowing the employee to stop the production line and let the company know how many parts we were shipping on a daily basis and sometimes multiple parts to try and rectify the problem. So this lead to the finer points, there was no oversite on the implications for the cheap parts. The company did not have a vision after we were deep underwater and lost money every day to defective parts. They did not manage the transition very well when the center became too busy to cope with the scope of problems. Moreover, Emachine could not keep sales of its computers from crashing into the ground, Weiss (2016).

The change model provides leadership with a roadmap in which we can use in any individual circumstances. With this being said we have to be able to strategize and sustain change, since this is centered on the identity of the organization (Weiss, 2016). The organizational change that I experienced and the impact was when the leader move me to the upper grades in my building. This has made me look at life in a different way. The students I work with has special needs. Some of the student need one on one assistant. Their behavior are so different from the other students. We have to make sure that they are calm at all time so they will go off.  My job is to make sure the student are getting the help  they need. I love what I do and that making a change form students to better themselves.
