Scheduling: A bottleneck is a point of congestion, management homework help

Respond to the following discussion:

“A bottleneck is a point of congestion in a production system that occurs when workloads arrive too quickly for the production process to handle.” (Investopedia, n.d.)   “Bottlenecks determines the throughput of a supply chain. If the capacity of a bottleneck in a supply chain improves, the throughput will increase.” (Imaoka, n.d.)

One day I went to chipotle which could somehow resemble the supply chain of a company. Two workers were talking for a long time and stopped doing their job.  This started to slow down other workers in the chain therefore, the whole process.  Customers (demand) kept entering the restaurant starting to form a big line.

So in order to minimize disruptions to production we need to analyze the process and identify the root of the problem. Depending on the problem we can try to avoid putting damage products in the supply chain, we could also aim to hire qualified employees, we can also make product location easier for employees, or reducing space between operations can help as well since this would reduce the time employees move around the facility.
