Introduction to Treatment Planning
This Week you will learn about the basics of treatment planning. This knowledge will be applied in the assignment due in Week 11. Treatment planning serves the important functions of encouraging a thoughtful planning process based on assessment information and providing structure to the provision of therapy to clients. There are many methodologies of treatment planning and you will explore several and then determine the approach you wish to use. Remember that the method you use will likely evolve as you move into your MFT practice (often due to requirements of third-party payers or the preferences of an agency), so this is work to lay the foundation.
While preparing for the assignment in this week, you are encouraged to review the information included in the second week of this course. Play close attention to the difference between the concepts of “treatment planning†and “case conceptualization†and reach out to your professor if you need further clarifications on these terms. Good understanding of these concepts is required not only to successfully complete this course, but also to become a competent MFT.
