Compassion Fatigue and Burnout Prevention

For this assignment, you will construct a brochure handout that could be given to therapists or supervisor candidates in relation to burnout. The purpose is to raise awareness about burnout predictors, risk factors, and solutions.

Create a 2-page (so that it could be printed as a 1-page front and back) handout that includes the following:

  • Provide a definition of burnout (cited from existing literature/research).
  • Describe the predictors of burnout (include citations from existing literature/research).
  • Describe risk factors to clinical practice or supervision if a provider is struggling with burnout. Be sure to focus on ethical concerns that could emerge in relation to burnout.
  • Outline the progression of burnout if left untreated (use citations from existing research/literature).
  • Develop a list of research-informed techniques that can be used to reduce burnout for therapists or supervisors.

In addition, write a 1-page narrative on how you can maintain awareness of symptoms of burnout and solutions to reduce signs of burnout in your own life. This will be used to grow your self-of-therapist/self-of-supervisor and to enhance your personal awareness about the role of burnout in the workforce in order to prevent it from creeping into your professional judgment and life.

Length: 2-page handout plus 1-page narrative (3 pages total)
