P.E.R.I.E. process
- Select a public health concern that interests you (examples include cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, HIV/AIDS, etc.).
- Provide a description of the chosen health issue.
- Define epidemiological transition and evidence-based public health. What is their role in addressing your chosen public health concern?
- In your description of the role of evidence-based public health, use the P.E.R.I.E. approach utilized by public health professionals to discuss the health concern you have selected. As a reminder, the P.E.R.I.E. approach is:
- Problem: What is the health problem?
- Etiology: What is/are the contributory cause(s)?
- Recommendations: What works to reduce the health impacts?
- Implementation: How can we get the job done?
- Evaluation: How well does/do the intervention(s) work in practice?
