Icon Proposal, Part 1

Before you begin this proposal, you will need to make sure that

there is at least one

peer-reviewed article regarding your icon available via Cressman Library’s

databases.

If there are NO peer-reviewed articles regarding your icon, then you

cannot research that icon

. This means that you will need to select another icon. You

need to do this preliminary search via Cressman Library’s databases to check that there is

at least one peer-reviewed source so you don’t waste or lose the limited and crucial time

needed for the research process.

For the Icon Proposal, Part 1, you will need to offer an analysis of the icon using the

following mediums: music lyrics, music videos, commercials, television episodes,

movies, advertisements, personal mottos, television episodes, magazine articles,

nicknames, catch phrases, television interviews, documentaries, televised sporting

events or games, social media accounts, speeches or addresses, manifestos, televised

interviews or videos, etc.

The purpose of this analysis is so that you develop your

readings and interpretations of the icon, so it is then easier to distinguish your voice from

the sources. In addition, it will make it easier for you to assess when you should build on,

concede to, or depart from a critic’s claims about your selected icon.

Answer the three questions below. As you answer the questions,

be sure that you don’t
