Overview

The goal of this assignment is for you to reflect critically on the story you pick and find other corroborating sources, looking for connections between what happens to the featured journalist(s) & class themes.

Prompt

1. Select one of news stories listed below dealing with journalism or journalists from the US or around the world.

2. Identify two other credible sources that also report on this story (its context and/or aftermath). follow the criteria for “Evaluating Internet Resources (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.” from Georgetown University Libraries. You cannot include material we covered in class–all sources must be new.

3. Write a 500 word essay in which you analyze:

a. how the particular event relates to any theme or idea discussed in class during the past 5 weeks by finding one concrete example (direct quote) or point of overlap and

b. also compares the 3 articles (the one you choose from below and the 2 sources you identify) in terms of perspective, point of view, and/or any observable bias.
