Case scenario

To succeed, P&G has been investing in robust information technology and its willingness to explore new
IT technology to maintain a competitive advantage in its industry. The Business Sphere and Decision
Cockpits systems are examples that assists managers and executives to make faster and better decisions.
These systems have reduced complexity involved in statistical reporting as well as harness cost
reductions.
The implementation of these systems has enabled P&G to better anticipate future events affecting the
business and more quickly respond to market stimuli. These systems eliminate time spent debating on
different data sets, and instead use a system that allows management and employees to focus on
immediate business decisions using the most accurate data available at the precise moment.
As a systems trainee, in order to provide competitive IT solutions to the designated organisation, you
need to further prepare an analysis and a report containing three sections addressing the following:
Section 1 should “Demonstrate an understanding of the different ways IT systems store, process data,
and critically evaluate the choices that have been made by P&G”.
Section 2 should “Provide justified recommendations for improving the IT systems in the support of
value-added change in the context of P&G”.
Section 3 should “Critique recommended practical solutions for the effective monitoring and evaluation
of IT systems with potential consequences of their implementation at P&G”.
Supporting and validating your suggestion, arguments and critique with substantial academic and
industrial research is imperative to produce a quality report. The sources have to be integrated in-text,
and referred in a detailed Bibliography using Harvard referencing system.
