Exploring Graphs
Respond to the following questions:
1. Why is a graph helpful when trying to share information? What information can more easily be conveyed with a graph as opposed to a written summary? Please give at least a full paragraph for your explanation.
2. A histogram is drawn by breaking up the data in groups along the bottom of the graph called classes. Why would you NOT want to have the classes overlap? In other words, what would happen if you had two subsequent classes of 82–85 and 85–87 instead of 82–84 and 85–87? Please be sure to state more than the fact that the graph would be incorrect or that the data would be inaccurate. This is an obvious fact but you need to discuss how we properly construct a histogram and why these steps are wrong.
