Formatting includes: Double-spaced, left aligned paragraph format (do not include bullet points or numbered lists), 12-point font, Times New Roman, 1” margins, 0.5” first line indentation, and black font. Your first paragraph should start on the first line of the essay (no title, headers, etc.). Also include a cover page with just your name, the date, and title of your essay. Choose one program that provides victims assistance and one program to prevent repeat victimization. Programs that provide victims assistance should provide victims with financial assistance, relocation services, or mental health services. Programs that prevent repeat victimization should provide education or crime prevention tools.

Children and parents suffering for PTSD stemming from physical or sexual abuse.

Description of services:

TF-CBT is a victim assistance program that focuses on addressing emotional problems resulting from physical and sexual abuse. Over 12-18 weekly sessions, the program provides children and parents support and skills necessary to overcome the trauma they have experienced. Parents also learn how to develop effective parenting skills and communication.

Evidence rating:

Safe date is a dating violence prevention program that focuses on reducing psychological, physical, and sexual abuse in dating relationships. The program attempts to change gender norms and provide skills for resolving conflicts. Students complete nine 50 minute courses on a range of topics that include identifying abuse, understanding abuse, addressing abuse, and preventing abuse through effective nonviolent communication.

Evidence rating:

The program is rated as Effective. The rating is based on one program evaluation. The evaluation focused on changes in perpetration and  victimization. Participants who went through the program report perpetrating less psychological and sexual abuse. Results for victimization were slightly less effective.  There were moderate effects for treating physical victimization and marginal effects for sexual victimization
