Managerial Econ- 3 Problems

  • YOU MUST SHOW YOUR WORK. No credit will be given for answers, right or wrong, if you do not show how you obtained them.
  • Do on Paper and take a picture or scan
  1. Find the equilibrium price and quantity with QD = 90 -16P and QS = 14P. (10 points)
  2. Increase the supply function in problem 1 by 18 and calculate the new equilibrium price and quantity. (10 points)
  3. Starting with QD = 150 – 2.5P and QS = 30 + 5P and supposing that the government imposes an excise tax of $2.25 per unit collected from producers, find (a) the new equilibrium price and quantity and (b) how much of the tax is actually paid by consumers and how much falls on producers (20 points)

Note that the new supply curve should show that the QS is 18 units greater at every price.Reference pages 65-66 of the text.

To work problem 3 you must do the following.

  1. Find the pre-tax equilibrium. The amount of the tax paid by consumers is the amount by which the price of the product goes up. You the pre-tax equilibrium to compare to the post-tax equilibrium
  2. Find the reverse supply function. A normal supply equation tells you what the quantity supplied is for any given price. You, however, need to add the excise tax, measured in dollars, to the cost, measured in dollars. So you need to rewrite the supply equation algebraically so that is shows dollars (i.e., price) at each possible quantity supplied. This is called a reverse supply function.
  3. Add the excise tax to the constant to get the reverse supply function with the tax included.
  4. Algebraically convert the reverse to the standard supply function (i.e., reverse the reverse supply function)
  5. Find the new equilibrium. The change in the price is the amount paid by the consumers. Any remaining amount of the tax is paid by the producer.

Reference the calculations on pp. 67-68

TQM and final bald ridge self assessment, management homework help

Now that you have completed your research and analysis for your company as the Quality Improvement Manger, it is time to finalize the report of your findings. Use Malcolm Baldrige’s seven categories of criteria for Quality Improvement, and organize all of your work into a PowerPoint presentation in nine or more slides. You will include the following slides:

  1. Title Slide: Including title of report, name, date
  2. A slide for Leadership: How will the organization’s leaders meet and sustain the organization’s governance for ethics, legal, societal, and community responsibility.
  3. A slide for Strategic Planning: What at the strategic objectives and/or action plans? How will these be measured, deployed, or changed if needed?
  4. A slide for Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management: How did you gather your information, analyze, manage, and organize your findings? What would you do differently or change in order to improve your analysis for future research? How was this information gathered and used to improve performance?
  5. A slide for Workforce focus: How does the organization meet the needs of the workforce, assess workforce capabilities, and meet the organizations vision and objectives?
  6. A slide for Operations Focus: How does the organization meet the operational needs for quality management? Consider how the organization designs, manages, and improves work systems based on your findings and/or research.
  7. A slide for Results/conclusion: How does the organization’s performance and improvement measure in all key areas: leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, measurement, workforce, and operations meet the challenges for continuous improvement.
  8. A reference slide and/or end notes
  9. Remember this is a professional presentation. You will want to keep slide information to a minimum (bullet points, etc.). You will need to “present” this presentation to your instructor using voice recording. You may choose to video record yourself speaking or just a voice over recording of PowerPoint

Less-than-lethal-weapons have proven a huge asset for law enforcement. Due to this technology, injuries of both law enforcement officers along with the suspects have been reduced.

Consider the following questions:

  • What are the two major less than lethal weapons developed for law enforcement?
  • How have these weapons helped law enforcement and reduce injury?
  • What are the risks associated with these weapons if any?

Prepare a typed document that follows APA guidelines that includes:

  • A paper 200-300 words in length, double-spaced.

BI101 Unit 1 Experiment

Read through the introductory materials below.Open the Unit 1 Experiment Answer Sheet and complete the following Experiment exercises this unit:Experiment 1 Exercise 1 – The Scientific Method (~30-45 min)Experiment 1 Exercise 2A – pH of Common Materials (~30-45 min)Experiment 1 Exercise 2B – pH and Buffers (~45-60 min)Save your completed Unit 1 Experiment Answer Sheet and submit it no later than Sunday midnight CT.The Scientific Method – IntroductionThe Scientific Method is the basis for almost all scientific research. If you click on the Unit 1 Overview page, you can read about how the Scientific Method is conducted. You can also read about the process in your book on pp 14-17. One area of confusion often involves the difference between a hypothesis and a prediction. This is because many people use these terms interchangeably, but in fact, they are different. Here is how your book discerns the two:Hypothesis – an answer to a question or explanation of an observation (p 14).Prediction – an expected outcome if our hypothesis is correct; often worded as “if…then” (p15).The purpose of this first exercise is to have you use the Scientific Method yourself. We will use the following web site. Be sure that you can access it and use it:Bowers, N. 2013. Scientific Method Exercise (Links to an external site.)When you are ready to begin, use the instructions in the Unit 1 Experiment Answer Sheet and work through the exercise.pH of Common Materials – IntroductionThis unit we are also learning about some of the chemistry that is important in biological systems, such as pH. Be sure you have read pp 32-33 in your book and our online lecture this unit before beginning this exercise. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14; a pH less than 7 is considered acidic and a pH greater than 7 is basic. The pH scale is logarithmic, which means that a solution with a pH of 3 is ten times more acidic than a solution with a pH of 4 and a hundred times more acidic than a solution with a pH of 5.Acids and bases are not necessarily a bad thing. Many of the materials that we handle and eat and drink everyday vary in pH. Some of these materials are safe to handle, such as “weak” acids (e.g., soda, coffee). Stronger acids (e.g., battery acid) and bases (e.g., ammonia) can be quite caustic and damaging. One way to measure the pH of liquids is to use pH indicator paper; paper that turns a particular color depending on the pH of the solution. Anyone with a swimming pool or hot tub is probably familiar with such paper. When you are ready to begin, open the Unit 1 Experiment Answer Sheet and follow the instructions to complete this exercise.Buffers – IntroductionAs you saw in the previous exercise, the pHs of common solutions vary across the pH scale! Yet our body is constrained to work within a very narrow pH range. Small changes in pH can alter the function of biologically important molecules such as enzymes, by breaking hydrogen bonds and denaturing these proteins. For this reason, in most organisms (such as ourselves), pH is very closely regulated. pH can be kept relatively constant by the use of buffers, chemicals which can absorb or release hydrogen ions to maintain a relatively steady pH.In most vertebrate animals, blood pH must be maintained between 7.35 and 7.45. There are several biological buffers that work to maintain this pH; one of the more important being the carbonic acid – bicarbonate system:H2O + CO2 H2CO3 H+ + HCO3-In the reactions above, the double headed arrows indicate that each step is reversible. If carbon dioxide (CO2) levels increase in our blood, it can combine with water to form carbonic acid (H2CO3), which can break down to form bicarbonate (HCO3-) and hydrogen ions. This would shift the pH towards the acidic end. If the acidity levels become too high, the whole process will reverse, such that hydrogen ions are removed and carbon dioxide is produced; thereby shifting the pH towards the alkaline end. This is only one example of a biological buffer; there are several other systems involved, but they all operate in a similar manner. The purpose of this exercise is to help you understand the chemistry of buffers. Be sure that you have read through the material on pp 32-33 in your book and this unit’s online lecture on The Chemistry of Life. For this exercise, you will use the following website (be sure your speakers are on):McGraw-Hill Education. No date. Buffers Animation. (Links to an external site.)You may need to download and install a plugin to use this simulation, so test this simulation early in the unit in case you run into problems. When you are ready, open the Unit 1 Experiment Answer Sheet and follow the instructions there to complete this exercise.

internation business marketing expansion

You have been asked by your faculty adviser to give a PowerPoint presentation to some undergraduate international business and marketing students on the issues they might encounter if they develop business plans to enter the global marketplace. Base your presentation on this week’s readings, including Exhibit 9.1, your research, and the following:

  • Describe and then evaluate why firms enter the global marketplace. Was the reasoning for entering a marketplace effective?
  • Using the market entry and expansion model in Exhibit 9.1, from your readings above, select a MNC firm and analyze, synthesize, and discuss how your firm applies any, and all, if applicable, of these strategies for market entry.
  • Analyze, interpret, and discuss what relationships exist between a foreign investor and a host country government.  Why are foreign investors important?
  • Assess and evaluate the impact of the internet and e-commerce in making a MNC global.

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as “speaker notes” for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists. Support your presentation with at least five (5) scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included. Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style where appropriate.

Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate reference slide).
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide.
